Primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors are the second most common pediatric cancers and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children. While survival rates for childhood cancers have improved, survivors often face lifelong challenges, including neuro-cognitive late effects from treatments and significant educational disruptions, particularly those undergoing intensive therapies.
This study aims to support children and adolescent neuro-oncology (CANO) survivors in reintegrating into school and achieving their full educational potential. Partnering with CANO survivors and their families, we will address critical knowledge gaps and develop evidence-based guidance. Using qualitative interviews, we will gather insights to create a new educational module designed to improve school reintegration and support positive educational outcomes. Survivor and family engagement will be central to all stages of the research to ensure the guidance is meaningful and impactful.
