Following Reproductive and Sexual Healthcare and Outcomes of Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Survivors (FUTURE)

A Project of the Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult Cancer Survivors (CAYACS) Program

Cancer treatments have improved survival for adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors, but may affect fertility and cause sexual dysfunction. Our overall aim is to provide a comprehensive understanding of short- and long-term reproductive and sexual health outcomes and care among AYA survivors at both population- and survivor-levels.

Using a mixed-methods design combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, and involving AYA cancer survivors as partners, our specific aims are to: i) evaluate reproductive and sexual health outcomes among AYA cancer survivors; ii) understand experiences of AYA cancer survivors with reproductive and sexual health outcomes and healthcare during and after cancer treatment; and iii) identify priorities for improving reproductive and sexual healthcare for AYA cancer survivors.
